Novruz holiday (New Day holiday, Spring holiday) is a holiday belonging to the ancient Iranian and Turkic peoples. This holiday is celebrated on the day of the equinox (from March 20 or 21 to 25), the beginning of astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
On September 30, 2009, the Novruz holiday was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Sweets that must be cooked on the Novruz holiday are: goghal, shekerbura, badambura, pakhlava. Each baked sweet is likened to a heavenly body. The Gogal sun, Shekerbura moon, Pakhlava stars sing.
